Myka Tucker-Abramson – Chair

I’m Myka Tucker-Abramson and I’m an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Comparative literature.

I’ve been involved with the UCU since I arrived at Warwick as a Teaching Fellow in 2014 and participated in the campaign against Teach Higher and casualisation, and then, in my role as Branch Secretary, in the struggles around Statute 24, and in the 2018 strike.

I grew up in Ontario, Canada during the rise of our own local Margaret Thatcher and remember organising and participating in the mass strikes and protests happening around the province, including at my own secondary school. Ever since, I’ve been convinced of the necessity of having active, democratic, member-led unions and am excited to continue building our branch in this way.
