My name is Claire Daffern and I work in the Clinical Trials Unit which is part of Warwick Medical School.
My involvement with the Trades Union movement began back in the 1980s when I worked in the NHS and was a member and department representative for NUPE (now UNISON). A very long time ago, though I still recall meetings in smoky working men’s clubs – times have changed, though similar issues still exist for many employees unfortunately.
I am a professional services member of UCU and became a Warwick committee member in August 2016. I now act as the Health and Safety Representative for the branch – a role which I feel fits well with my scientific and health care background and passion for wishing for a safe working environment for everyone.
I have an interest in both physical and mental health, safety and well-being. So if you have any issues or concerns in your work place around any of these subjects, please do get in touch and I will do my best to help.
