As ever, your committee is working hard to make sure that your rights are protected and that we solve issues before they become bigger problems. We continue to meet with the university regularly over day-to-day matters such as changes to policy, restructures and redundancies. We are also:
- We are working through collective consultation over proposed changes to structures of teams at the university as well as supporting individual members through the redundancy processes.
- We have entered formal pay negotiations with the University, who recently put forward a proposal (after much delay) to address compression at the bottom of the pay scale due to the increase in the Real Living Wage. All three trade unions were in agreement that the proposal was insufficient and did not represent a fair deal for those in grades 1-5 especially, and impacts grades 6+ as well into the future.
- We are working closely with Health and Safety regarding initiatives to monitor and reduce stress in the workplace.
- We are also monitoring forthcoming changes to:
- Regulation 28 (Intellectual Property)
- Lecture Capture policy
- Timetabling pilot in the Faculty of Arts
- Attendance capture in Oculus
- We have recently seen a significant upswing in the number of people requesting casework and we have over 50 open cases currently. Advice and guidance will be coming to our webpages soon and we are working to resolve as many of these as quickly and justly as we can.
- We have been supporting local and national industrial action at other organisations and institutions.
