Update: Summer Term 2026

This term has been a very busy one.

  • We have been in ongoing negotiations over conditions with the university and have been pushing to ensure your hard work is rewarded in some way as merit pay has been suspended for the year due to the financial situation affecting the entirety of the higher education sector.
  • We have been working hard to ensure that procedures are followed in the merger of departments which affects jobs and people’s wellbeing.
  • We will feed back on the new lecture capture policy, moving from opt in to ‘recording by default’ (opt out). Feedback from all Warwick staff and students is sought and can be submitted here where you can also find the proposed policy. Accompanying documents have not yet been prepared, such as the changes to Intellectual Property Regulations and the process for opting out.
  • We still have over 50 open cases as we try to support people through difficult times in their jobs.
  • We held our AGM where we approved next year’s budget, elected members of our committee for the year ahead, and passed motions donating to other causes, opposing the Defence Universities Alliance, some tweaks to the local rules, and supporting the campaign to remove Palantir from Coventry City Council’s Children’s Services due to concerns over data sharing.

If you want more details on any of the above work or can spare us a little time to help out (you must be a member) please email administrator@warwickucu.org.uk.
